The Daughter World Premiere

There have been several articles this morning providing updates on Anna Torv’s upcoming Aussie film “The Daughter”. According to THR, the film will have its world premiere at the Sydney Film Festival. “The Daughter” is one of 12 films which will be competing for the Sydney Film Festival’s prestigious Sydney Film Prize.

For those near Sydney, tickets can now be purcahsed via the Sydney Film Festival website for June 4-5 showings at State Theatre. The SFF website also provides a detailed synopsis of the film. It would appear that Anna Torv has a small role.

The Daughter Poster“Simon Stone’s auspicious feature film debut, inspired by his award-winning adaptation of The Wild Duck, brings together a magnificent cast in a heartrending drama about two intertwined families. Christian (Paul Schneider) returns to his family home, after a long absence, for his father Henry’s lavish wedding to a much younger woman. Henry (Geoffrey Rush) is the owner of the local timber mill, which he is closing down, causing much hardship in the area. While home, Christian reconnects with his childhood friend Oliver (Ewen Leslie), an employee at the timber mill who is now out of a job. He begins to bond with Oliver’s wife Charlotte (Miranda Otto), daughter Hedvig (Odessa Young) and father Walter (Sam Neill and starts piecing together a puzzle that will have devastating consequences. Stone fully formed characters. It is about a daughter, but also about fathers and sons, and an intergenerational meshing linked to class and sex. This is the sort of serious, emotional drama of which we see far too little, featuring brilliant actors at the height of their powers.” -SFF

Deadline Gallipoli’s haunting opening

Deadline.Gallipoli.Part.1.720p.HDTV.x264.Hector.mp4-2015-04-22-22h02m13s604Anna Torv’s “Deadline Gallipoli” miniseries premiered this week in Australia and we’d highly recommend giving it a look! While her role is small, Anna has tremendous screen presence as Lady Gwendoline. One obscure detail we loved about the miniseries was its beautiful open credit sequence. The opening song is “Breath” by David Bridie, a musician from Melbourne, Australia. The theme song was originally released on the album “Act of Free Will” (September 5, 2000). You can listen to the full track below.

We’re open!

Hello everyone! My name is Ash and I’d like to welcome you to AnnaTorverse, your number one source for everything Anna!  “Fringe” may have ended and “Open” may have closed, but we’re revving up to keep you updated on all the latest Anna Torv news.  Things have cooled around her as of late, but we’re hopeful that things will pick up shortly!

In the meantime, we’ll be preserving all media from Anna’s current resume.  A majority of Anna’s material has slowly disappeared from the Web as we are becoming increasingly distanced from the “Fringe” era of television.  Our mission with this website is to restore Anna’s content to the Web and prevent it from being lost forever.
